The South Florida Frocktails 2026 Theme is:

Paris After Dark!
What does that even mean?

A Paris After Dark themed soirée for sewists and fashion enthusiasts is a moody, romantic, and fashion-forward evening inspired by the allure of Paris when the sun sets and the city begins to glow.

🌿 Theme & Atmosphere:
Step into a Parisian night where the mood is soft, the lighting is low, and the energy is just a little mysterious. Inspired by the bold allure of Moulin Rouge, the quiet romance of the Seine River, and the effortless charm of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, this evening blends drama, elegance, and ease.

👗 Dress Code:
You are encouraged to showcase your sewing skills and personal style with custom-made, Parisian-inspired looks. Think:

Dark, romantic tones—black, wine, deep plum, and soft neutrals

Lace, sheer panels, satin, mesh, and delicate textures that hint without revealing everything

Flirty silhouettes—slits, open backs, draping, and movement

Chic, tailored pieces with a touch of drama

Effortless “I just threw this on” looks… but make it intentional

Meet the South Florida Frocktails Team

    Johanna Ali

    Johanna Ali

    Co-founder SOuth Florida frocktails

Johanna was born in Puerto Rico and moved to Massachusetts when she was 4 years old. Having grown up in the cold New England winters, she moved to South Florida after visiting her friend in 1998. She graduated from FAU and has been married for 14 years and has a 12-year-old son with her husband.

Johanna started looking for a creative outlet and calls herself a later bloomer in the crafting world. She started her crafting journey making bead bracelets and then moved on to making mugs and t-shirts with her Silhouette cutting machine. She purchased her very first sewing machine in January of 2014 after seeing a skirt Mimi G Style made and thought she could make that. This was when her love affair with sewing began. Not having gone to fashion school, all of her extra time was spent watching sewing videos on YouTube and reading every sewing blog she could find and taught herself to sew.

In 2016 she started her blog www.soveryjo.com as a way to document her sewing journey which then turned into a place where she could share sewing and DIY blog post.

Having heard of different Frocktails events held around the world, she wanted to bring a Frocktails event in South Florida. She asked Dayana to partner with her to host the inaugural South Florida Frocktails event.

    Dayana Jeanty

    Dayana Jeanty

    Co-Founder SOuth Florida Frocktails

Dayana is a fashion designer local to South Florida. Originally from Haiti, she was introduced to sewing at a very young age by her mom who was herself a designer. Dayana was sewing intermittently until her teenage years and life went on. The love for fashion and sewing was still in her, and in 2016, she registered to fashion school at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and graduated with an associate degree in fashion design in 2018. Since then, she joined the sewing community on IG and embarked on a DIY journey where 85% of her wardrobe is handmade. You can find her on Instagram at @26bydayana where she shares all her colorful makes.

Dayana has been consistently applying herself to create a strong sewing community. In 2020 she partnered with another sewist @rellsew from MD and created @swapitsewit where they encourage sewists from everywhere to swap fabric and share their makes. In 2022, at another attempt to bring the sewing community together in South Florida she created @sewfloconnect the link between creative minds and hosted an amazing event.

Dayana is a wife and mother to two children. She enjoys her friend’s company, sharing good laughs, travel, and most of all good food. In her spare time, you can find Dayana talking to her plants (lol), reading, working out on occasions sweating it in a Zumba class.

Now, you will find her here, where Johanna partnered with her to place South Florida on the leaderboard of Frocktails!
